A test render that explores the first trials from my experiments in the expanding boxes

My intentions for my 3D model is to make one solid box that begins to expand and extrude off its own faces and form a machine like shape floating in mid air in a bottom of the machine opens up and starts ejecting a clear version of the above shape but this time its movement seems more like liquid and it seems like the above machine is spewing forth a pixelised simulation of water and the water blocks start taking on forms and making their own shapes as the mature and grow from the host machine. The overall look will be a dark and futuristic looking animation.
